That’s great! I too joined the photographic society in secondary boarding school and even developed a few of my own photographs taken with a box camera if I remember correct. Lovely hobby but quite expensive for us in Sri Lanka.

Hi Suzanne, firstly, I want to thank you for helping me out by answering my questions on here with regards to the paper I was writing on Korean festivals. My tutor at uni really liked it!

Actually as I understand, chingay is traditionally a procession where the statues of gods are carried from the temples to tour the localities and bring peace and prosperity to the land. In some cities in Malaysia and probably other south east asian countries still have this have this practice, and is still very much a traditional affair. Not sure if it’s proper to link, http://www.photokaki.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=32720. Have even heard of Chingay tours organized by some tour agents to visit JB for their Chingay. Popular among photographers.

In Singapore, it has become a somewhat modern procession, including even world class art performances.

Hi Suzanne,
I really have a question for you regarding the question on Korea. When I was watching the Drama series Jumong, I notice that Koreans do not sit on the floor instead they sat on the table while having discussions. However, when I watch dramas from the Joseon Dynasty, I noticed that Koreans are then already sitting on the floor in a style that were similar to the Japanese. I become interested in finding out the cause of this as in who and when this culture was brought in or developed. There seems to be no sources on the Internet that could answer my question. I have tried sitting on a floor to eat with a mini table that were commonly seen in Korea, but it seems like my stomach is being compressed and I couldn’t take in as much food as sitting on a table.
