Pictures Sichuan earthquake May 2008
We were all trying to get a soundbite from Premier Wen Jia Bao. We were at ground zero of the earthquake, Yingxiu in Wenchuan County. Premier Wen Jia Bao was at Yingxiu together with UN Chief Ban Ki-moon.
If you look hard enough you will be able to spot Channel NewsAsia’s mike.

UN Chief Ban Ki Moon getting a first hand look at the damange caused by the May 12 earthquake.
I was running to catch our “ride” back to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan.

And I have to thank a reporter friend who took the pictures for me. It is quite rare to have pictures of “behind the scenes” especially when you are working under such situation.

Yeay! An update — finally !!!
Let’s see. As regards the first picture, I’d say, screw the mic. The lady with the white face mask is all that matters! Been dying to know how she’s coping with her life in Shanghai, CN.
Second pic. She managed to get herself positioned very near to the UN Chief. Mighty impressive IMO.
Third pic. Why was she tugging on her own shirt while she ran ?? *chuckles* And is that the infamous “kitchen sink”? Yup. Definitely can fit a dozen or so bricks in there. *rotfl*
Fourth pic. After making the mad dash for the bird, the lady deserved a comfy and plushy seat. Why was she seated on the floor instead ??
Anyhow, thanks for sharing these pics and their captions. Appreciates the good gesture & generosity a lot !
Do remember to write every now then about your on-goings in CN whenever you’re free. Doesn’t really matter if it’s a trivial matter or otherwise.
^__^
PS. Sichuan’s looking good in terms of the reconstruction efforts being made there. The recent news report was definitely reassuring. Keep up the good work !
